How Are GATE Difference Between Articles Helpful In Preparation?

GATE (General Aptitude Test for Engineering) is one of the most sought-after and highly competitive exams conducted in India for tech aspirants. Every year, lakhs of students attempt to crack this exam, while only a few thousands manage to get through it with flying colors. If you are also an aspirant looking forward to securing a safe spot on the merit list, then you might consider having a well-defined plan for the next few months as the exams are approaching.

The first and foremost advice that all students must follow is to cover their entire syllabus and understand every concept associated with it. The best way to do that is to refer to multiple reliable sources that explain these micro-concepts in detail. Looking into a topic as a whole won’t help; you must look into full forms, the difference between articles, and many more. In this article, we will discuss how the difference between articles help clarify your doubts about your GATE subjects.

How Are Difference Between Articles Helpful?

You might want to skip through this step, but these articles help clarify your doubts and make your concepts stronger. For instance, many of us might be confused with some basic tech terms like the difference between primary key and foreign key, SRAM and DRAM, compiler and interpreter, etc.

Although these terms are fundamental, they might still create confusion. Now, as a tech expert (after you clear the GATE exams), you would be expected to be familiar with all the terms. If you are confused about their meanings, you might use them in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now, this can lead to some serious errors.

As a matter of fact, GATE tests the fundamentals and skills of a person by testing the grasp of their primary subject. And if your concepts are not clear, you might not be able to clear GATE with a good score! You can also check previous years’ papers like the GATE 2020 question paper, 2021 question paper to look for such questions that might confuse you.

A Few Examples

As discussed previously, there are a lot of terms that might sound similar but are actually very different. Here are a few examples:

Difference Between Primary Key and Foreign Key

A primary key helps assure the value in a particular column is unique. The foreign key provides the link between the two tables. A primary key generally focuses on the uniqueness of the table. It is a column or a set of columns that uniquely distinguishes every row in the database. It means it should not have any duplicate value. Also, it doesn’t contain a NULL value. A foreign key helps build a relationship between the two tables. The primary purpose of the foreign key is to sustain data integrity between two separate instances of an entity.

Difference Between LTE and VoLTE

LTE & VoLTE are both popular terminologies belonging to the internet world. They both provide high-speed internet service and support a 4G network. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. It is a model for high-speed data communication systems, also called 4G. It means you can utilize internet service at the 4G speed. It has the capacity to provide a download speed of 100 Mbps and an uploading speed of 50 Mbps. VoLTE stands for Voice over Long Term Evolution. Like LTE, it also holds 4G networks, and you can enjoy high-speed internet service with it. Even with VoLTE, you can enjoy voice calling with data service.

Difference between LAN and WAN

A Local Area Network (LAN) is a collection of interface devices that allow communication between consecutive devices. LAN can cover the smallest areas including schools, institutes, hospitals, and more. The Wide Area Network (WAN) covers a larger area as compared to the Local Area Network and Metropolitan Area Network. It has the capability to cover any country/continent. WAN is also comparatively expensive and generally owned by a sole organization.

Other Must-Have Resources

Apart from the difference between articles, here are a few more resources that you must keep handy when preparing for the GATE exams:

  • GATE syllabus to highlight and learn the important sections from your study materials.
  • GATE offline and online study materials – articles, books, ebooks, full forms, subject-wise explanations, topic-wise MCQs, etc., to cover the syllabus.
  • GATE running notes and previous year’s notes to help with the preparation on the go.
  • GATE 2019, 2020, and 2021 question papers (at least past three years) to understand the pattern of exams.
  • GATE mock tests and sample papers to understand the current level of preparation, areas that require better revision, and improve before the exams.

Cracking the GATE exam is no layman’s job. It not only requires dedication and will, it also requires a clever strategy and laudable time management. If you are also a GATE aspirant, try your best to cover the syllabus and revise it at least two weeks in advance. Follow the resources mentioned in this article, and you will be all good to go. All the best for your exams. Adios!
